Spring & Summer Plans

Spring came early to Washington DC - time to get out and make some new videos. I’m going to be working with several cosplayers on individual video shoots in April in May. In late May, I hope to travel to Phoenix to showcase cosplayers at Phoenix Comicon. I submitted True Otaku to PC’s film festival. Keep your fingers crossed it gets in! In June, I’ll be in Ohio for Colossalcon. I’m looking forward to visiting family in the area and exploring all the creative locations Kalahari Resort has to offer. Then in July, it will be time to hit up Baltimore for Otakon. Otakon was my first con years ago and it will always be one of my favorites.

Also, make sure you visit: http://www.youtube.com/user/CosplayerNationTv and support Cosplay Nation. These filmmakers are covering cosplayers and conventions all over the United States and are doing some outstanding work!

News from the True / False Film Festival

True / False had over 900 submissions this year and only took 40 entries. We didn’t make the cut, but I got some great feedback from the Submissions Director: “Our screener found it to be a fascinating, energetic look at Otaku culture and thought Iris was an especially very strong character.”

Festival Update!

Acceptance notifications go out from Fantastic Planet: Sydney International Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival this week. The Maryland Film Festival sends acceptance notifications in early April. The Comic-Con International - Independent Film Festival takes place in July, so notifications for that will likely go out around May or June. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

My third and final video from Katsucon. This one is a fun look at all the different types of characters people cosplay. It’s meant to be up-beat, fun, and a little quirky. Some of the series featured in the video are: Assassin’s Creed 2, Black Rock Shooter, Digimon Adventure 02, Dragonball, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Fullmetal Alchemist, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Lollipop Chainsaw, Madoka Magica, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Naruto Shippuden, Nightmare Before Christmas, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, Sailor Moon, Sengoku Basara 3, Takarazuka, Team Fortress 2, X-Men, Yami no Matsuei.

This is my second video from Katsucon. I wanted to create that sense of longing for something / someone and tried to blend the shots with the music to that effect.

My first new video in months… trying to keep my creativity flowing while waiting for film festival notifications.

The Bad News

Got passed over by the Virginia Film Festival and the Cucalorus Film Festival recently. Oh well. Still holding out hope for the True / False Film Festival. They send out notifications in February. Also planning to submit to the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal.
